Lines and Textures in Leiden

As I mentioned earlier, we went to Leiden over the weekend. To a certain extent, a certain aesthetic thread runs through all Dutch cities, although I really love the subtle differences between them. Leiden, for me, was all about texture. I wanted to touch everything.

There were knitted "sweaters" covering lamp posts, fences, trees, and any other sweater-able surface. It upped the gezellig-ness and cohesiveness of the city. A few crumbling facades, moss covered rooftops, and planters made of rocks trapped behind wire made for a very visually-stimulated and happy me, despite the day's attempts to thwart us with cold and rain.
